Electronic Texts

Some of these are accessible from within the University of Michigan computing environment only.
The Encyclopedia of Science and Technology All Boolean-searchable facts a humanist and social scientist would ever want to know in this field.
The American Memory Project at the Library of Congress
The Crossroads Project from the American Studies Program at the University of Michigan
The MUSE Project from Johns Hopkins University Press A nice site with a number of electronic scholarly journals, including Configurations (cultural studies of science and tech) and MODERNISM/Modernity, dedicated to the history of modernism.
The Humanities Text Initiative A massive and admirable effort to offer fully-formatted, attributed, and indexed bodies of texts on the Web, from a soon-to-appear Middle English dictionary to a vast collection of English poetry. Lots of nice links, too.
The Encyclopedia Americana As you would imagine, with lots of glitz.
The Oxford English Dictionary The genuine item, all 20+ volumes of it.
"Past Masters" Anglophone theory heads (Hume, Locke, Smith, etc.) through the nineteenth century (Sorry, no Hegel spinoffs).
The Gutenberg Project This is a low-level, ftp-only-acessible archive of "classic" texts, without version control or attribution, in ASCII (unformatted).
