Bob's Music
Jazz, African (with its many sub-genres), folk, and acid jazz are my favorites, but I'm also into old-school classical, hip-hop, avant-garde, and feminist music. Having been beaten up by rednecks with twangs back during the Civil Rights era, I still can't stomach "country," with all of its phony "just us real folks" pretense. Sweaty white guys banging on guitars and screaming into microphones keep me away from most rock.
Accessing the music…
There are three ways to do this: 1. by going to a third-party Web site on which I lease space and access (low fidelity, but very easy), 2. by going to my music server and accessing Softsqueeze (nice fidelity but a bit complicated—this has the largest selection), 2. going to my RSS music feed (decent fidelity, easy to use, accessible also via an RSS feed).
Method 1:
- login to the site
- (ask me for the username and password)
- Select your music
Method 2:
- access the site (no authentication needed)
- open your mp3 player (iTunes, WinAmp, etc.) and open a stream—in iTunes, menu: Advanced ==> Open Stream—and typing <http://bobfrost.dyndns.org:9000/stream.mp3>
- Select what you want to hear, and you're on! (you may have to diddle a bit to get the stream recognized on both ends)
Method 3:
- access the site (user:
,
password:
) - Select your music, and go!
Enjoy!
